An update
So, I wanted to quickly post some details I've come to learn about regarding my placement in Spain. I'll be living in a town called San Lorenzo de El Escorial. It's about 50 kilometers northwest from the city of Madrid, on the southeastern slope of the Sierra of Guadarrama, and over 1,000 meters above sea level. Its population is around 17,000, and pictured below is a view from the summit of Monte Abantos (courtesy of Wikipedia).
