En route

So my first flight was pretty uneventful. I fell asleep almost immediately after take-off and didn't wake up until the pilot made an announcement that we were on our descent to Charlotte. Naturally, there was a screaming child and a crying baby on the plane, but other than that the only thing that stood out was that when I initially boarded and found my seat, the couple already sitting in my row said, "Oh, we were hoping you wouldn't show up." I didn't really know how to reply to that, so I channeled my inner Thumper. ("If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.") Anyway, CLT isn't a particularly fascinating airport. In fact, I'm not sure I noticed anything terrifically special about it, although it did have good recycling (separate receptacles for paper, plastic, and trash). Although, now that I think about it, I was impressed that in the bathrooms they had complimentary mints, Listerine® mouth wash, and feminine hygiene products. Anyway, my layover was only long enough for me to sit and eat some Goldfish® Crackers and Coconut M&M's®. (Thanks for the latter, GL! I saved them just for this occasion!)

My second flight was equally placid. Again, I slept the entire way, but I did wake up in time to get a great view of the Philadelphia skyline, Citizens Bank Park, and the Shipyard. (I didn't reach into my bag and get my camera out for fear I might accidentally lose something as my friend HZ did recently on her way to Barcelona.)

PHL is very nice, or, at least, the terminal where I'm hanging out is. Its design is very modern (lots of glass and angles), and there is great recycling here, too. They even had some sculptures and things on display. I had enough time to do a bit of wandering, and to sit at my departure gate and write this. We're supposed to begin boarding soon, so unless there's WiFi on the plane, this will be my last post until tomorrow! (And it's definitely my last post from America! Crazy!)

  1. Coconut M&Ms?! Were they good? Also, have you tried pretzel?

    There's great recycling in Spain!!

  2. Of course. Coconut M&M's have been my favorite since last year when they came out; sometimes they're just hard to find, though

Still haven't tried pretzel, and they probably don't have them in Spain...
