Burning calories with Tolstoy? Not so much.

So I joined the local gym on Tuesday, and went ayer for the first time. It was fine, but unfortunately the plan I had as far as what I put on my iPod did not really work out -- haha, no pun intended -- as I had hoped. Let me explain.

I received a free audio book from audible.com, and I wanted the most bang for my metaphorical buck; therefore, I chose to download War and Peace. It’s a novel that’s been on my “to-read” list for far too long, and apparently provides 56 hours of aural entertainment. I was happy, because I figured that it would last me at least a month if I only listened while exercising. However, I did not foresee that it would not make for the most motivational acoustic alternative... I had such difficulty staying enthused, because usually I have upbeat songs playing to keep me mentally energized. While Leo’s oeuvre is fantastically interesting, it just wasn’t what I needed to keep me going. Alas, looks like it’ll be back to the likes of Ke$ha, David Guetta and Enur while I try to get in shape so I’m not wheezing every time I walk anywhere :)
