Wheel of Fortune in Spain is... interesting. In concept, it's the same as the American version, but here it has some variances that make it an altogether different experience. First off, the host is quite young. He's rather attractive, but kind of annoying. Like, I think he tries to be funny, but really he's not... Also, Vanna White's counterpart is, too, quite youthful. What I don't like about her is that she dresses very skankily. As Heidi Klum says to the designers on Project Runway, you have to choose to show either cleavage or legs, not both, lest it come across as vulgar. Alas, this girl always seems to dress very revealingly. Anyway, the game itself isn't as exciting because the amounts on the wheel range only between 25 euro and 1,000 euro. In the States, the players win a lot more money. The audience is pretty rambunctious -- they constantly chant and sing and do the wave, and it's a tad bothersome. But whatever. As for the puzzles, I have yet to solve one. Even when all of the letters are on the board, I often still don't get it. There's vocabulary and expressions that I've never heard before, so the thrill of figuring out the correct answer is lost. Although, I suppose it's a challenge, and maybe by the end of my time here I'll be good at it, haha. I will give kudos to one aspect: there's a kind of puzzle where the words are put on the board backwards, so it's an added twist to make the game a little harder for the contestants. Probably the thing that's the most irritating is the product placement. Of course we have it back home, too, but here it's so intrusive and interferes with the viewing pleasure. Even my landlady agrees, so I know it's not just me. But hey, anyone that knows me knows that I love watching TV, so I'll take what I can get! :D
