More new vocab

So here are some words I’ve learned since my last post regarding this subject:

The verb estropear means to damage, to break (down), to spoil, to ruin, to go wrong, or to go bad. I’ve heard it on TV, and my landlady, Angeles, says it a lot, too.

An edredón is a comforter. Angeles told me that if I get cold at night I should ask her for one. I was confused at first, but figured it out from context.

Tío literally means uncle, but it is also slang for guy. I hear it a lot on TV.

Melocotón is another word for peach. (At home, we call it a durazno.) When I was browsing for yogurt at the store, I didn’t know what it meant, but the picture on the container elucidated it for me, haha.

Finally, esquivo means elusive, aloof, unsociable, or shy. I heard this on TV when I was watching a nature show about Russian wildlife. The narrator used it to describe a Siberian tiger that was being filmed.
