"The true traveler is he who goes on foot, and even then, he sits down a lot of the time." -Colette

So the quote I used to title this post basically sums up the trip to Valencia I took with my former roommate HZ two weeks ago :D

From the 4th to the 8th I didn’t have work due to Spain’s observance of their Constitution Day as well as the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. I clearly should've blogged about this viaje sooner, because I don't really remember everything that I saw or did, haha, but bear with me as I try to recollect it... Here goes!

The hostel HZ and I stayed at was near the train station, Estacio del Nord. Also near there was the Plaza del Ayuntamiento. It was quite lovely, especially once the sun set and all of the Christmas lights were turned on (thanks Google Images for the photo):

Anyway, we did a lot of sightseeing, naturally. We went to the Cathedral, La Casa de Las Rocas, the Quart Towers, the Serrano Towers, the Oceanografico (Europe’s largest aquarium), the Jardines del Real, the Museo Municipal de Ciencias Naturales, the Museo de Bellas Artes (where we especially enjoyed the paintings of Saint Sebastian), the Centro Cultural Bancaixa, the Lonja de la Seda, the Museo Nacional de Ceramica, and probably other places that I'm forgetting.

And of course I have to mention a few of the delicious things we ate! HZ and I made sure to hit up the over 200-year-old Horchateria de Santa Catalina to have horchata and fartones:

Just writing about these tasty treats makes me crave them, lol. We also had a really great lunch at one point at a vegetarian restaurant. The croquetas were especially good:

We also ate at an Italian restaurant and had an awesome veggie pizza:

That was an especially fun dinner because the wall next to our table was actually a chalkboard, so HZ and I played hangman while eating.

Ultimately, it was quite an enjoyable adventure, definitely made better by such wonderful company ^_^ Yay for Spanish puentes!

  1. I can't believe I didn't notice that neither of us blogged about Valencia. Geez. Also, I think I completely forgot about the horchata and fartones part when I talk about it, so thanks for reminding me of that...

I want to add that we got turron from El Corte Ingles. And the train station had an awesome penguin.
